Weatherstem Camera Live Stream Feature

Many of our over 600 Weatherstem cameras offer a feature we call Live Stream which is a real-time video feed.

This is one of the most exciting and useful features we've created at Weatherstem and offers the ability to remotely monitor weather situations literally in real-time.

Our philosophy at Weatherstem since the start of our program has been to make as much of our data, imagery, and video content freely available to the public as we possibly can.

This philosophy is starting to break down a bit for us when it comes to this Live Stream feature. Many of our cameras are connected to cellular modems and some of them are in very remote locations where available bandwidth is very low.

As of January 1, 2022, in order to access a camera's Live Stream feature, you'll need a Weatherstem Streaming Token.

We are doing this because we need to get a better understanding of who is using our Live Stream feature, what cameras they're accessing, and how they're using the content.

Such a token can be obtained by e-mailing api@weatherstem.com.

When you send this e-mail, please let us know a little bit about who you are, what camera(s) you access for the Live Stream feature, and how you are using the content.

Access to camera snapshot images uploaded once per minute as well as weather data from all Weatherstem stations remains open to the public without restriction and without the need for any access credentials.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary step on our part has caused.
